I think what you just said insures I'll never ever remove you from my friends list. :) Very well said.

as to the moving to Canada idea... This was going to be in my comments....

For those that have talked about moving to Canada, don't. While we'd probably enjoy you coming here this raises more problems than you could imagine. If the US turns more militant we're the first to go. If you haven't noticed, our armed forces suck big time. Its a quick walk in for anyone. By the way, my bet on the justification is something along the lines of as Canada can't adequately defend the northern boarder we're sending troops in.... Actually there are already some troops in this country. Aaand we have a lot of oil. :)

No, you need to try and verbally fight to limit the influence of the extremists in the USA. There are a lot of you that can do this. All it takes is a couple dissenting voices to start to make others think and grasp for rationalizations. Without that, it becomes easier and easier to railroad thinking along a tight subservient track.

Actually, I think Canada should attempt the opposite and try to join the US to mellow it out some. It'd be a sacrifice, but probably several generations at least before the Republicans re-gained the Senate, and possibly the house. 10 provinces, 3 territories, 32 million people, with even the right wing typically being to the left of the GOP. Mileage may vary in Alberta and rural Saskatchewan.

Not deep or insightfull I'll grant you, but I've only had a couple hours sleep.
