I've developed a strategy for that, especially since all time is off is based not on official policy, but on the Advisor's Good Will(tm).

If I'm half-sick, I force myself in to work. A good deal of the time, either it goes away, or I get REALLY sick...in which case, I have no problems with not going in.

This latest time was sadly the latter. Oooh, I hate the flu.
